The ultrasound is the best way to see how far along you are. I am a week earlier than my LMP said. Most doctors should be happy to ultrasound you right now based on your LMP.

You are classed as 10 weeks pregnant because this is taken from the first day of your last period. They do this because unless you only have sex once in the whole time there is no way your doctor can tell what day or time you were having sex! If your periods are regular your cycle is 28 days which means that it is 14 days until a new egg will be released. This egg cannot be fertilised until it is released. So sometime in the last 14 days of your cycle you had sex and fertilised the egg. So you are 10 weeks pregnant but this could possibly be up to two weeks out. It could have been anywhere between about 12th September and 30th September that you conceived your baby if your periods come regularly. If they dont it makes everything alot more complicated and you will only know from having your scan when the babys femur is measured to be able to tell how old the feteus is. Even this can be slightly off though by up to 2 weeks if your baby is small or large. My scan was 12 days out cus i knew what date i conceived but they gave me a different date by the babies femur length.

Hi! first congratulations! It is more than likely that you are 10 weeks, but you are right it is possible that you could be less...it depends on when you cycled. The best way to tell is to go to your doc... they will be able to tell exactly by ultra sound the size and measurments of your baby and there for exactly how far a long you are. Plus then they will make sure everything looks good and that there are no problems. :)
Good luck to you

I am a grandmother now but we always added on 10days from the date of your last period which i think would make you 10weeks, i have always been right with my daughter even when she was given a different date by the doctors

Typically, they count from your LMP. But if you don't ovulate regularly, it could be off. But not by more than a few weeks. Obviously, you know when you miss your period, so count about 2 weeks prior to that for your conception date.

hi! you add on 9 months & 7 days to work out your expected delivery date (EDD), therefore your EDD would be June 21st. They will confirm the date when you go for your first scan at 12 weeks. goodluck!!!!

They base the EDD (estimated delivery date) on the estimated fertilisation human pregnancy of 266 days, with fertilisation occurring on day 14 of your cycle.
Hope all goes well for you and your partner.
