You are missing your son. He made your house a home and now he's not there anymore. Fill up the empty space with doing things for yourself that you put off because you were busy being a full time father (kudos to you for being a real father!).

Oh, bless you. You've got an empty nest.
I have a similar feeling now that my hubby is living closer to his job (75 miles away ) during the week.
The weekends are great but the house feels so empty and quiet during the week.
I guess the only thing to do is keep busy and enjoy the peace and quiet.
If you have friends whose kids have just left home, ask them about how they feel and what they do.
Hope that things start to look up for you.
All the best.

Hi!
I've not yet felt it, but I'm getting ready for it!!
It's called 'Empty Nest Syndrome'!
Just remember, you have so OBVIOUSLY done a brilliant job in bringing him up that he has the confidence to go out into the big wide world on his own.
You (and only you) have given him the opportunities to (in your own words) 'follow his own career'.
What a FANTASTIC achievement.
What an AWESOME Dad you must be!
Go to the offy and get yourself a couple of cans and toast yourself for the greatest achievement you've ever accomplished!!
You SO deserve it!

Yes definitely... a house has an aura like evrything else and it's the people in it that make it that way. a very good friend of mine was living with me 5years ago when i was going through a really bad patch with my ex-husband (who was then still my husband). she had often been to stay in my house previously, i live abroad and this time when she came, she said tose exact words to me.. eerie i know, but it was true, my house looked lovely, was clean, well furnished etc, but it was dead..
i know it's different to the situation u are in at the moment, but a house can be dead.. u need to change the situation and feel better in yourself and your house will "shine" this aura out to you! sounds ridiculous, but it's true!!
good luck, and chiin up... it's hard letting go, if it's a partner or a son, but he'll always know your his daddy and home is where the heart is! :)

I felt that the house I moved into with my husband was dead. No matter how I decorated it or arranged the furniture there was no atmosphere, no life. I suppose people make a house a home.

A house that is no longer a home will die from loss of love and neglect. Yes, I can relate to that.

When my father died the atmosphere in his house changed. But your house hasnt died, please dont think like that...... as you get used to being alone you will introduce new activities and friends to the house and it will recover its good vibe!

Keep it warm(all rooms) and fill it with music that should keep it going until it's heart returns for a holiday.
