I was watching some clips of Jennifer Holiday singing other peoples R&B songs and she sounded A WHOLE LOT BETTER than the original singers.

She has a Aretha Franklin style in that it seems that she takes every song to church. She hits high notes without effort.

QUESTION: Why in the world didn't she make more songs than, Dream Girls song, "You are Going To Love Me." As I was watching her performance she has everything it takes to be a super star; class, sophistication, connection with the audience and etc. Why didn't she make more music. My mom says that she was never really superstar quality and she never had the looks, I ABSOLUTELY DISAGREE!!!!

Well, I what are your insights. Help me understand. lol

Personally, I'd chalk it up to weak production on her solo albums and trying to make her a pop diva instead of letting her soar.

They whys of repetoire often have everything to do with what the record companies are trying to sell that year. She might have done better if they hadn't been set on making her the next big thing.

I don't know the specifics of her career, perhaps she's been working on stage all this time. If that's the case, then she's been making plenty of music, just not in the form of CDs.
