I think if nothing unbelievable happens (EG: Mass nuclear war, a new deadly air-borne virus, etc) I think the world will end when the sun goes supernova. All stars (I think ) go supernova, basically imploding in on itself but releasing a massive amount of energy. The world will get toasted and even though this will supposedly happen thousands upon thousands of years ahead of today, I doubt technology will be so good as to prevent this.

Wikipedia says this isn't possible because the Sun is too small but some notable sources disagree. Well, I'll be long dead so I'm not too bothered.

I agree with CrankyYankee, The world is not going anywhere, not any time soon....People may come and go. I hope we have enough survival to pull out the power to colonize space....but we could be wiped out by some super flu (I doubt that).....a super asteroid (????) or by each other (I think some would survive)// NOW the Earth is going to be consumed by the sun in soo many millions of years....you can look this up....scientist say that the suns "nuclear" burning will eventually stop and the sun will go supernova and implode and stuff.....which will consume the inner planets (including Earth) and then be a black dwarf (burnt out) star. So...in a few million years the Earth is doomed.
