My mum always made me go to bed much earlier than my friends who used to tease me about it, so if this is the case I understand how you feel. She did have my best interests at heart although it made me really mad at the time.
How you can get your mum or dad to let you stay up later depends on how old you are and how late you want to stay up. The best way is to have it agreed with them in advance ie. Be on your best behaviour and be helpful and polite all day (even if you find it boring), and ask if you can stay up later if you do some chores. If you mean you want to stay up later every night (within reason) you will have to show them how grown up you can be - I mean the good behaviour, doing your best at school and the helpful thing, not smoking or something silly like that. It works a treat!!! It's much easier to get parents to agree to you staying up later if it's not a school night too.
Good luck :)

If you help out around the house, I don't see why you can't stay up later. Persuade your parents that you can cope with the late nights by getting up at the right time in the morning and not kick-ing up a fuss. Good luck! I know you can do it!

Get up without being nagged, no last minute homework panics, help get any younger ones dressed and breakfasted. Then point out that you are obviously getting plenty of sleep so how about a bit later bedtime at weekends or to watch a favourite programme.

If you show that you can get up happily in the morning, do well at school, keep up with your homework and do your chores around the house then your parents should learn to trust you to stay up a bit later.
There's no point asking if you're not doing these things already - actions speak louder than words.

Watch your behaviour, take on extra chores around the house, and ask for a trial run on a later bed time. The idea is you need to proove that you won't be tired during the day, and school grades won't drop.

it depends how old are you and what parents you have got, etc. Simply just be helpful and nice to them. Another thing you can start telling them before you want to stay let. So they will know about that and do not get shocked. Or you can say that you are staying in your friends house

Act VERY quiet.
Put the TV on and offer to make your parents tea/drink.
Come and sit next to them
After a while move away and sit in another chair
don't make a sound
soon if they is like my parents they will fall asleep
watch TV, do anything you want till they wake up
pretend you have been asleep as well!!!
