Unlike a CRT display the Displayed picture wont "shrink" if there's a fault. How ever the most probable causes are:

1) you accidentally changed the video mode to something other than the native resolution of the LCD panel.
(Check under video properties to see what the monitor is capable of and what the current settings are)

2) you have accidentally pressed the key to select an external video source for example an external monitor or TV screen
( You should see a picture of an external monitor or TV probably in blue on the top row of keys. To change back look at your instructions or try pressing the function key and that key to change the mode. The exact key press varies from model to model!)

If you have not altered the screen preferences, there is such
a fast appeal menu that pops up and takes your screen size
to optimum cost effectives. This may not be in your recent
personal memories, it goes like this: small pop up screen/
would you like to now upgrade to your home providers ISP?
YOU say yes. Then choices menu, regular cost as provider
service status quo, new provider, same plan from ISP?
Now this moment when you say same plan, if you are onboard
or changing satellite at that point the common result is to go
back to first menu and your computer installs proficciency
smaller screen, as result of the hours of use/ type of plan.

I agree with second answer but also could try checking screen output ( hold down function key and press F8 key).

Maybe it's just cold. Try warming it up a bit. This happens to all of us!
