i have a six year old stepson so i know how you feel. I have always encouraged him to read which really helps improve his english. Have you tried the Artemis Fowl books? they are in a similar mould to harry potter but a bit more modern (they are by Eoin Colfer. If he doesnt like reading, try something more electronic! depending on your budget, you could think about a Nintendo Wii or you could go to this website www.toysrus.co.uk and input his age, they reccommend stuff specifically for that age. Good Luck, hope he enjoys his present!!

A construction toy of some description is an ideal gift for a six year old. It builds all sorts of skills in a child, as well as being thoroughly good fun.
Lego is no longer very cool with your average six year old (sadly, I loved it as a child) - I would however suggest Geomag, Zoobs, or similar.
Hope this helps

There must be something he wants or at least something he is in to like power rangers or lego. What have his friends got? That may give you ideas. Take him to toys r us for a look around and see what catches his eye.

Video games within his age range. My daughter's teacher recommended she play video games among other things to improve her motor skills. She was having difficulty forming letters and writing on regular notebook paper.
