How can Muslims expect us to believe they are a peaceful religion?

It is common knowlege what happens to women in Muslim countries for not covering their head. Beaten, humiliated and even raped. Yet they claim they are a religion of peace. How can they explain the beheadings and the suicide bombings and still claim they are non-violent.

Yes, loop hole, but we Christians realize not all aspects of the bible are to be taken literally. Why isn't there a Moderate Muslim uprising about the distortion of their brethrens interpretation of the Koran. Can you imagine the outrage in America if Christians began killing people who worked on the Sabbath?

It's odd that this tag line about Muslims is always used to assign them as Barbarians and the West as enlightened. Time and time again when Arabs rise up against their leaders they chose to install secular, "western" style democracies. They almost got away with it twice in the 1950's with Nasser in Egypt and Mossadeuq in Iran; both were overthrown by the US/UK cabal spearheaded by the CIA. In order for the murderous thugs that West installs into Arab capitals to maintain power they must redirect their populations anger into hatred of America and Islamic Fundamentalism. The hatred towards America is easy because the populations know that their local thug wouldn't be in power without the backing of the US ie. the Saudi Royal Family and many others. The Islamic Fundamentalism is more complex but essentially the thugs won't screw with the "church/mosque" and they fund and encourage fundamentalism; it's another method of deflecting popular anger. In then case of Iran, the fundamentalist movement grew faster that the Shah could control and he was gone.

The religion of Islam is as much of a plague on society as Christianity is on ours; we just have a long established secular system that keeps the rabid dogs of Christianity at bay. All you have to do is read Deuteronomy which advocates "you must kill anyone who secretly tries to sway you away from the true god Yahweh and those who follow that person". Also you must "kill your child if he is a glutton and a drunkard and doesn't listen to you" and so and so on. Christianity in it's long and bloody history has no moral sway over Islam or it's historical treatment of women. It has been grass roots democratic movements that have given women and minorities rights, not religion. Christianity was drug into the modern age kicking and screaming and its still fighting ridiculous battles vis a vie evolution, reproductive rights, gays and siezing the minds of the young earlier by injecting indocrination into the public arena such schools etc...

If the Arabs were left to forment their own national interests the outcome would be predominantely secular, democratic nations with many of the Western traditions that we hold dear. The fundamentalists movements would wither to a shadow of the themselves because the two prime enablers would be removed; state sponsorship and promotion and the underlying anger by a desperate society

Its their actions many things are written but to see it every single day defines it as a culture not a religion. They have a culture that accepts it as part of their every day life and that's the life they all live with and we are now part of that daily scary azz life.

Not all Muslim countries are like, many places in Africa, India and America have a high Muslim population do you see that happening to them? The same can be said about any religion, there will always be extremist. The KKK claim they are Christians but believe it is ok to torture blacks and others based of their differences, so does that make Christianity a violent religion?

well, the problem is that with Muslims they don't distance themselves from the extremes like Christians sometimes tend to do (I say that with tongue in cheek).

80% of Muslims are pretty peaceful, I'm sure of it. Otherwise there would be over a billion insane violent Muslims running around killing everyone, but there is not.

Muslims, like most groups, will defend their group as a whole before admitting flaws.

You ask a Muslim why do they cut off the heads of people on home movies and they will ask you about Abu Ghrab or about the US Service people who raped and killed the family in Iraq. Its a defense mechanism we all use....everyone hates to admit they are not perfect.

You ask a Republican about Mark Foley, they ask you about Stubbs 20 years ago. Its kind of pathetic, but I think we all do it.

PSS there are moderate muslims. They are the ones that are living in America peacefully, like the ones on the plane that had that incident this morning. Its just if they speak out over there, guess what? They get blown up

The average Muslim on the street, however, is peaceful. His

Read the Quran. Not with an eye towards changing your beliefs
but rather to find out what is says about violence.

you are confusing religion with persons... people can be violent even if their religion is not.. are you telling me all Christians are peaceful? i dare say not.. and have you been to a Muslim country? have you seen how they treat people? you do know that not all Muslim nations are the same don't you? My brother in law is from Pakistan actually.. he is Muslim.. but my sister is treated with respect, as are their 2 daughters.. not everything is as it is reported on Fox news you know.
