There is a reason why a pharmaceutical company puts expiration dates on medicine. When a drug expires, it is no longer effective. The chemical component also breaks down and changes over time. Taking expired medicine is not only dangerous but can kill! It doen't matter what type of drug it is either. Packaging it right doesn't do anything either. Dispose of all expired drugs!
I hope that this helps.

It wont hurt you if you take medicine that's expired, But it can make the medicine week or it might not work at all. If its been expired four years you should just get you self some new stuff, that's the best way to know the medicine its working the right way.

I would ask a doctor or a pharmacist. Some medication when expired will lose it's potency and some can become very dangerous when expired for a long period of time.

You can usually safely take medication for one year past it's expiration date. Anything after that, is not safe as the contents of the medication can be weakened or changed. I would not take the four year old medication that you describe.

No. Toss them. They are no longer any good. The chemical composition has changed and it could even be harmful. At the very least, it won't do anything for the BP because it's lost it's strength.
Get new blood pressure pills from your doctor.

I wouldn't take it because the expiration date is the date the pill has the right potency. after that date it might not help at all.

Expired medication is not a good idea to take.It loses it's ability to be effective b/c the medication looses it's potency. In other words it will not work b/c the chemicals have broken down.

Some medicines are good beyond their expiration date, but some are dangerous. Go online and check out your specific scrip and check before using it. But, I worry about the possibility that you are treating yourself and may do more damage that way.

I know any doctor will tell you no, but I do it all the time and I'm still breathing. Dont get sick too often either. Its just on my income, you dont throw anything away. Expiration dates are just suggestions.
