"Toy Story 2" was a definite improvement over the original; and I've always liked "After The Thin Man" as well. "Terminator 2: Judgement Day" was a big improvement on the first film, as was X2: X-Men United".
"Kill Bill Vol. 2" may or may not be a sequel, depending on how you look at it, same goes for "The Two Towers" and The Return Of The King", "Empire Strikes Back" and "Godfather Part 2" (are these sequels, or parts of a whole?)

I think Rush Hour 2 was comparatively a very good sequel, in relation to other disaster sequels in the past. It managed to maintain the comedy and action and the unique bond between the two main characters. I also think all the Star Wars were very successful, considering the time at which they were made (episodes 4-6)

This might be just me but I'm not keen on any sequels. Especially not with kids films... Cinderella married Prince Charming and they were supposed to live happily ever after, not make another film.
It just goes to show how little creativity we have these days. Most films that come out seem to be either reruns of old films or sequels to ones that have been out before.

Empire Strikes Back has always been, not only my favourite sequel, but my favourite Star Wars movie.
I personally think that it is better than Star Wars, but then I love to see main characters getting hurt, Han Solo at Cloud City, and I loved the fact that the viewer at the end does not know if Han Solo is going to be in the third movie and if Harrison Ford had his way Solo wouldn't have been.

Army of Darkness is the all time best sequel to a film. It is the third in the Evil Dead series. AOD is a stand alone film and doesn't even need the rest of the series to be ulitmately fun scary and hilarious. Granted the other Evil Dead movies are fantastic as well.

As sequels go very few match the originals, but X-men 2 and Toy Story 2 are the exceptions that prove the rule.

Big Shout Out for Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey, Excellent Adventure had the charm, but as film Bogus Journey is clearly a better film. You get character development, not only rom B&T but also from Death and Station.
It also features Death's rap, which I feel has sums up the nature of our terrible mortality whilst rhyming quite deliciously.
I could write about those films for hours but I'll save y'all's time.
Be excellent to each other and party on dudes!

Terminator 2 and Aliens-The original movies were good, but improvements in fx and budget took them up a step..I'd disagree that the LOTR Movies were sequels...It was one long story split into 3 for running time, and released for marketing effect..like Kill Bill 1+2 was one story. Another LOTR or Kill Bill movie would be sequels. The Matrix movies were sequels.Serenity 2 would be a sequel..
