The moon is owned by Claude Lunariski, a resident of Wisconsin. He sells moon pieces to those suspected of Lunacy, and he keeps the money. He uses it for upkeep on his property.

The Moon is technically owned by mankind in general and no one in specific - like international waters, all other planets, and space. You can pretend to sell stars and property on the Moon and Mars for 'entertainment purposes' - but no one actually owns it, even no matter who gets there first. NASA makes no money from the fake selling of stars, since they're not the ones doing it. The only astronomical objects you can name after yourself are comets and planetary nebula, and you have to discover them to get naming rights.

No country owns the moon per a treaty signed in the 1960s. These are "scams" who collect money from the gullible. It's the same as "naming a star" for someone.

It is a high-tech con. Nobody owns the moon. Does not mean that a country can send its people and remove US flag or do something in the same spot. It could start a diplomatic war.

What happens to the money ? The same destiny as any money con artists make.

Good question - I suppose that the Americans planted the flag first and so they've probably claimed it and then sold parts on to independent nutcases (I mean entrepeneurs) who then bode their time for forty or so years before latching on to "Pop" culture and Instant Celebrity Phenomenon. They then sold bits on and people gained their immortality in this way - similar to name a star but strangely more laughable.
However if it's a scam then they'll be laughing all the way to their own (offshore??) banks with unsuspecting punter's cash.

No one can own the moon. NASA might think they own it but I thinks it is just silly buying a piece of the moon. The Money might go to NASA to invest in space travel.

You can't own anything in space. It's illegal (1960s outer space treaty) Besides, it would cost hundreds of millions of dollars to even get there, and then what could you do with it?
