Rep Charles Rangle (D-NY) wants the draft so not only the poor can die in war,but now everyone has a chance. He has wanted this for a few year and now the media will report it. Why did they wait till after the Election ? Is this what Sean Penn had in mind with his Vote or die campaine.

Sorry, but I think this is just damned funny. The left screamed to high heaven about the right using "scare tactics" to try to win the election, but the draft was a DEMOCRAT scare tactic. My, my - the chickens have come home to roost, now haven't they? Kinda makes the whole M-tv "Vote or Die" a little foolish in retrospect.....

FYI, the statistics on the military indicate that the average military member is from a more privileged background and is better educated than their average peer. I.e. NOT mostly poor. Can we put this liberal canard to bed, finally?

As for the draft, it was dead on first spewing 2 years ago. Rangel put the draft up for a vote a couple of years ago, and it received only 2 yea votes - neither of them his! Even he voted against it! LOL!

There will be no draft - it's a loser for the military, a loser for the country. Rangel is an idiot.

Why did you willingly drop out of elementary school? Please, at least read a news article, once and awhile. Rangle wants this draft because, he said, the Republicans have been hiding behind a "no draft policy", in order to protect their own children from having to enter this war in Iraq. Just look at Bush's two daughters. By the way, you sound like you're a juvenile, if not, mentally anyway.

if you would actually read his statements he doesnt really want a draft.. he wants to raise peoples willingness to protest the war by saying we are going to send all kids to fight.

after he says we should have a draft he says, this will make people realize fighting isnt just for the willing and will also make this administration as well as any other think harder before sending our men and women to war when the military isnt just volunteers.

This is the most blatant use of fear to push his agenda. and they say bush is wrong for using fear. typical hypocrites.

Rangle is a joke. Even the Democrats make fun of him.
Most of the soldiers in Iraq are more educated than the average civilian.
Rangle didn't even know that. Or maybe he did, since he's just a liar.

Rangel is a dope, the rich will always find a way out if they want to. By the way, the majority of draftees during Vietnam were white middle class kids.

The point is not to reinstate the draft, just to make congress more accountable for starting wars.

Just like Shiraz, you need to read the whole story before drawing any conclusions.

Having served in Viet Nam with draftees, I can state that I'd hate to see that foisted off on the Armed Services to serve the interests of that fat SOB.
