People tend to associate eras of music with pleasant memories and memorable times in their lives. You will undoubtedly do the same one day. It's funny, I like 80's music but would rather listen to The Cruxshadows, Evanescence or My Chemical Romance. My 17-year-old son likes The Cruxshadows and Marilyn Manson but also loves 80's music. Go figure!

i wish my parents were like you. my parents are stuck in the 70's. i hate 70's music so much but i LOVE 80's. its because they grew up in the 80's and thats what they know. when you get older your kids are gonna be saying the same thing about you and the music from now.

Some people just get stuck in a genre. You could try introducing them to modern bands that mimic the 80's sound, for example, The Darkness. Or you could just deal with it and accept the fact that it happens to most people and will most likely happen to you too. In fact, it is more likely to happen to people who like predominately only one or two types of music, so unless your taste is exceptionally broad now, expect your kids to feel the same way about your music as you feel about your parents music.

Were they in high school in the 80's? Lots of times people love the music from that time of their lives.

The 80's were a very fun era.

If music is not your passion, you tend to listen to music that is familiar to you, rather than immerse yourself in new and cutting edge music.

In terms of my opinion why. Top 40 pop music from the 80's is better than Top 40 pop music today.

You should be thrilled!!! This is going on with me, and I love it. This will teach you to appreaciate all kinds of music. I now listen to everything from the 40's to now! You should be thankful, and I listen to all radio stations, and all kinds of music. If you make yourself so limited to music you won't be able to enjoy it as much. So open yourself, and enjoy the 80's. Now, Disco is my favorite kind of music. You should be very happy!
