I had a problem with this when I was young(jr.high, high school) I finally figured out that it was my way of punishing myself. I was confused and didn't really have anyone to talk to. I have alot of friends but I was always one of those that didn't talk about feelings, so when I got upset, angry, sad I just held it in until it made me sick. The cutting just became a release, a way to feel pain physically that I was feeling mentaly. Looking back it seems stupid and silly, but at the time it was all I knew. I don't think it was a constructive way to deal with things, but I eventually grew up as a person and figured out who I was and that that's all that mattered.

They do it because the pain inside is so big that creating a hurt on the outside helps relieve the pain inside.

Please, go see a counselor about this. Obviously you are in a lot of emotional pain. A counselor or therapist can help you find more constructive ways to deal with it.

I don't completely agree that it's a cry for attention. One of my friends is cutting, and she's not that type of person nor is she emo. I think it's a deep pain that you're having trouble dealing with. I may sound like a dork, but like I told my friend, it's not her fault, we still love her, and we're here for her.

compulsive behaviour?hmmm...

u might repressing ur feelings....subconciously/consiously by cuting urself would make give u a satisfying feeling...in a way to deal with ur feeling.
not a healthy thing to do...cutting urself...
ever try other positive ways to channel out ur feelings?

i cut myself but i'd really like to stop. I do it because i think i deserve all the pain i can get and if someone cared about my pain, they would have noticed it. It scares my friends=(

It's a plea for attention. Isn't there a school counselor, or an adult you respect, that you can talk to ?

because they don't love themselves... if I love someone, I will not do any damage... so if I love myself, I won't do any damage to my body...
