Dennis farina's first role was in 1980s, so having a series in the 1970's is not possible. He was in a few episodes of Hunter, and was in Crime Story but that was centered in Chicago and the show aired from 1986-1988.

it was definitly Crime Story. i used to watch it all the time...it was set in the fifties and progressed thru the decades. It was about going after the organized crime in Chicago. Excellent program.
