I know how to start an e-commerce site but how do you have member accounts?

Well, if you're trying to build SECURE user accounts, you should use PHP and mySQL. A good (free) database software is phpMyAdmin which is available for download at their website. If you don't want to be bothered doing all the preliminary programming, invest some money in CRE Loaded. It's basically a developed eStore that you can easily edit the code and graphics to make it your own. Oh, and the whole 'user account' thing is already programmed. :) good luck.

amzon website is very complex using
PHP, ASP, SQL, Cookies,
the sql will hold all the secure details for login, along with the cookies, this would take a long time to learn how to make a site like amazon.

setup a sql database that accepts and stores input from the user/client.
