The season is now over until January. The Australian Open and then the Lipton in Florida are the next big tournaments. Federer finished number one for the year and Nadal finished two which is very good. Remember Federer is being talked about as one of the greatest players of all time. He won three out of the four majors. In order to be number one Nadal is going to have to make a lot more finals. He has taken some losses that have cost him some points. I think barring him getting injured he will win the French open again. He needs to grab another title. Remember also that guys like Roddick are going to be in the mix also.

nothing; nadal stays at #2 and federer stays #1.
the match was really inconsequential to the rankings or race points since federer has an enormous lead over nadal and everyone else.

a victory for nadal would have somewhat proven that he owns federer but not for points. it would have purely been for pride and a chance at the finals.

2006 season's over and next season will re-commence in early jan as players enter warm-up tournaments in preparation for the Australian Open in late Jan. they don't get much of a break really.
