A friend showed me an e mail that she had received from another friend that Walmart was going to donate certain amount of $ to a gay organization from their profits the day after thanksgiving? Does anyone know more about this?.

My entire family is boycotting Walmart, not just for the after Thanksgiving sale, but also until the end of eternity, or until they get a grip on reality.
It's not a scam. Check it out for yourself. Walmart is plastering it everywhere.

It's true. I saw it on Snopes.com and Walmart verified it. I think it's hypocritical of a company that refuses to sell books, CD's and prescriptions that Walmart feels are immoral and then they turn around and support Gays, claiming they need to be fair to their entire customer base. I call it selling out.

If this is true, which I doubt that it is, I would have hoped Wal-Mart would have given the money to an organization to help out children from violent homes, cancer research, domestic violence programs, etc.

It sucks that a large retailer is supporting and condoning acts of perversion, but what can anybody do? Wal-Mart is HUGE and powerful. However, the 5% does NOT apply to sales at Wal-mart stores, only to purchases made through a certain web site.
It's a sign of the times we live it. All moral boundaries are being eroded. Why not donate money to people who have sex with livestock? It's no more or less perverse.

2) So? They are helping a charity--shouldn't you be impressed with Walmart for donating ANYTHING to help an organization?! It seems you are so caught up in worrying about homosexual rights that you are forgetting about giving to charity.

Why shouldn't they.
Would you be asking this if they said they were donating to a veterans organisation, or cancer research?
Also, what was this organisation, is it one doing research into AIDS etc, or one promoting homosexuality
If the former then again I have no problem with it, if the latter then my opinion changes 180 degrees and I become against it

i feel it would be good, because gays/lezs is a phase now like prejudice was back in the day against blacks, something that will soon blow over. it's just a new thing so people are scared and feel wrong about it being ok because they think it is religiously wrong, but it is true that marriage is about love not gender. so i think we should be more open to the fact that its out there and no matter what we cant stop people from being who they truely are.

Although I don't approve of it I feel it is no different from them donating to white people, black people, aids, etc... I feel they should donate to everyone or not to anyone
