Make her hold up a sign that read "Hey, look! It's Da' Donkey!" with an arrow pointing down to her as she wears her everyday clothes. *lol*

I would think you could rent a decent donkey costume from any neighboring costume shop in your area.

Good luck. :)

Its perfectly approriate. You and your family are obviously christians, and a nativity scene is an expression of your beliefs, Christ as messiah, charity to others, kindness and love for all of Gods creatures, no one rational, even non christians like me should have a problem with you doing that on your own private property. Likewise, Jewish neighbors would be secure in putting up a menorah display to express the same values, minus the messiah part obviously. Your concerns are likely stemming from a different issue altogether. There is an ongoing 200+ year old debate about the constitutionalilty of *government* institutions displaying specific religious material. This stems from the clause in the constitutional clause that the government shall make no law regarding the establishment of religion. This is a complicated debate with no clear answers, a vague wording in the consitution and a few hundred years of equally vague supreme court decisions about the meaning of "establishment of religion" I wont get into all of it today, but its a fascinating and important debate you should definitely research, it will teach you to think critically, examine both sides of an issue and provide a great foundation in how politics and the US law and legislative system work.

OK, first, if you're in the UK go to your nearest qs or bewise if its still called that, get a cheap brown/grey fleece top, (£3) two pairs of black trainer socks and grey or brown (might be hard to get brown) tights. Trainer socks are hooves, fleece is the body and a ball of wool plaited will make the tail, mane and ears.
Get an old alice band and a cereal box, cut out the shape of the ears and sellotape onto alice band and add some loose strand of wool.
My daughter was donkey year before last and stole the show!!!!

You may be able to make the ears from brown felt. Felt is fairly inexpensive. You can glue them onto a head band (also of felt). Add some velcro to help seal it shut.

Do you have any costume shops around? I was thinking of those animal noses that she could wear. There may be something for donkeys. (try the Internet, too).

If she's going to be in the choir, you won't need the tail.

She can wear brown pants and a brown top (turtle neck, maybe).

How's that?

Try charity shops for brown coloured blankets, coats or throws. Face paints or make a donkey head from cardboard dont forget the tail

just ears, face paint and brwon cloths perhaps, look around your house with the costume in mind, Im sure you will find something. get her to help you. oh, I wish I could make one now, just waiting for my little one to get a bit older first. he is only 11 months and I dont think he would quite appreciate it as much. most of all l do it together and have fun with it.

I don't know what currency you are talking but whether it's either pounds or dollars, I don't think you could make one for less...... =/ Making one would be quite tricky (unless you are good at that sort of thing) and could possibly end up being more expensive!

how about brown pants and shirt and sew ears cut out from felt onto a knit hat. you could also get a yarn needle and brown yarn and attach a mane to the hat.

just paint on a black spot for her nose :)
