I've always wondered this, even when I was riding on them. It really doesn't make much sense to me.

Cost. About a billion dollars, all told.

People make two arguments against them. That there are so few kids killed in school buses that it isn't worth it. And that kids wouldn't wear them correctly. Both seem like poor excuses to me. It's just cost.

Maybe it depends on which state you live in. I think in MA it is the law to have seat belts in School buses

I dont think its that they don't care, but it is because all of the seats are so high up that if anything crashed into it besides a truck or another bus, nothing would happen.

because the bus Co. is not responsible and it cousts to much to put them in

In other words they do not care if your kid dies in an accedint so long as the Co. gets payed to drive them to school it is enought...
