You can't be the only sponsor for this Elephant. And a sponsor is not responsible of the disposal of the remains. That is the responsibility of the trainer. Think about it. Doe's it not sound funny that as soon as you sponsored this Elephant it died? Fined a Lawyer/Solicitor.By the way would you like to buy some Beach front property on Groom lake Nevada? The Bass out their has three eye's and six legs and croaks like a frog. You can fined the same at Three Mile Island. There is a difference in the Bass. The Bass at Groom Lake can run on dry land.

I am sorry, but are you sure this is a friend? I can not believe what he is telling you is the truth. Look up the definition of sponsorship, don't think you'll find cremation and repatriation in it. Are you sure this animal hasn't been "Sponsored", by many other people where this person is trying to extract monies from?
I believe he is lying and if you ask him for a copy of what you signed, if you don't already have your own copy which would be required in a contract, he won't send it back to you, if he does, it will be redacted or in someway altered.
If he has nothing to hide, ask him to IMMEDIATELY fax you a copy or email you a copy of your Sponsorship packet. IF he can't do that, it would seem like he might not be legitimate.
Get the paperwork if you don't already have it.
Do you have it?
add to you question if you do.

How long have you sponcered the elephant? How old was the elephant and how did it die? Did you know about the part in the contract about paying for burial costs? Ask him to make copys of the documents and send a copy to you.
If he has documents you signed with the conditions of adopting the elephant, Im afraid you'll have to pay. Just be more careful when signing a contract.

You only sponsored the elephant you say so i assume you hadn't legally adopted it so therefore i doubt you would not legally be responsible for the elephant.
It would be the zoos responsibility since they have the legal rights over it.
Do you not have a copy of the documents that you apparently signed I'm sure it would say in there what you are responsible for.
Also i read your other questions for instance the one about your neighbour catching your cat and eating it but you had no proof, equally as absurd as this question.
I suggest you find something more fulfilling to do than make up absurd stories which are completely futile.

Do you seriously believe you are liable or are you winding us up? Unless you can remember signing a document that states you must pay, which would be unusual to say the least, then they are lying. Even so you should have proof that the said elephant has actually died. You could turn the tables and say as you have ownership on death, as you apparantly do, can you have the elephant shipped to you and you can skin it and de horn it and sell them on the black market and make a few thousand £ or $!

Don't give him any money. If he has the money to take you to court over this, he should just use that money to pay for the 'funeral expenses'. He's just trying to scam some $$$ out of you. How much support have you already sent this guy for the support of a possibly non-existant animal anyway.

Sorry to be a occasion pooper yet zoos are glorified gaols for animals - surprisingly for bigger animals like elephants. The conservation argument does not fly with me the two. Destroying organic habitats isn't a reason to maintain animals in enclosures in order that we are in a position to maintain those species around. we could desire to continually be putting money into protecting organic habitats. in case you elect to work out a toddler elephant then bypass and spot one in the wild and positioned your money into conservation not zoos.

sounds fake, but you may want to see a lawyer to be sure. ask for copies (although you should have copies if you signed some) of the papers he says you signed. tell him it is so you can have them checked by a lawyer. don't send the money until it is proved true, because it probably is a scam.

Tell him to ship the elephant to you and you will pay for it's funeral.
Sounds like a scam to me.
