Just reiterating what other people are saying, you'll be wanting to use windows 2000/XP just for ease of use, but I've had a win98SE computer manage it before.

USB or free PCI ports are necesary, other than that just check the requirements for the Card you are buying and go for it.

If the PC doesn't already have that capability, check the system requirements for the card/adapter you're thinking about buying. The minimum specs are usually listed on the box- generally speaking any machine thats 500Mhz or faster, running Windows 2000 or later with 256mb of RAM or higher should be fine...

Newer wireless cards might not work with older Win98 machines- so check before you purchase.

Pretty much any P-III or later CPU and Windows 2000 or later is all you really need.
