The news is already too much news. I've intentionally not watched it for awhile. So much negativity. Turn on the tube, pick up the paper and what do you get? Wars waging, murders committed, kidnappings, hurricanes, tornadoes, abused children and women, lack of jobs and if all this isn't bad enough ..... we have a certain celebrity telling us how he would've killed his wife.
I try not to be controlled by the headlines, but they make me stop and ask, " Wouldn't it be safer if I just stayed home and locked the doors"? Are the headlines making me think like this or is it just the world I live in? That is the question.

I don't feel controlled by the headlines because people choose to twist data around to fit whatever means they want.
I once read a report somewhere that President Bush didn't only ignore the Katrina incident, but that he also CAUSED it. *lol*

Too much news is listening to what is happening in Iraq four times a day, every day. I kept my television off for three and a half weeks this Summer. When I switched on again guess what - b**** Iraq dominating the news again. I don't wanna keep hearing it over and over again. I'd rather watch paint dry.

when there is so much negativity and bad stuff happening right now, it makes for depressing viewing. i just cannot be bothered to watch it on tv or read it in newspapers anymore. therefore, do i feel controlled by the news? no because i am not one who has to read and watch it, current events-wise that is.

when I hear the words Israel, Iraq, Afghanistan, North Korea, or Palestine, I just switch off. Events in these places should not be reported because they do not constitute News. News is a set of UNEXPECTED events. In these places, everything that happens is expected. That is their normal, so its not news.
