My kids and I often discuss how rapidly technology and social conditions are changing, and I remind them that the advances of the last 100 years are far greater than the advances throughout all of recorded history prior to that, especially technologically.

What changes do you foresee by the year 2050?

With the aging baby boomers making up a large sector of the population, there may be a different outlook on the aging process and the living options available to the elderly. The role of the elderly and the way that the young view old age will hopefully change as we witness better educated, fitter, old people continuing to make contributions to society.

The treatment of death may be approached differently; in a whole demystified manner and there may be a whole movement to "personalize" funerals in the way that people now individualize their wedding ceremonies.

Hopefully, we will live in a more tolerant world where we take time to learn and to respect other cultures.

Perhaps we will have learned to respect the planet we live and we may have been forced to care for natural resources. A society where we learn to consume less, acquire less, share more, recycle more, reuse more would all be positive, progressive steps taken by human beings.

i see education becomming easier. i remember 10 years ago going to college by walking a huge campus and taking notes. right now all you need to do is log on. i see doctorate degrees expanded to higher and higher education. i see self medical exams by computer. i believe that life will become longer due to this. i see old shopping malls becoming the a partments for the elderly-no need to ever go outside. auto mobiles will become obsolete with travel being down by computer and picking groceries on line. i think we will also have totally automated delivery.

I'm hoping that cryogenics would be commonplace before that and they thaw me out by then so I can see what the world became.
