You are not legally liable for any debt for which you did not sign.
Get a lawyer as you are entitled a portion of the estate if he died without a will.

No, you are not liable for the funeral. If there was any property in his possesion (i.e. land, stocks, bank accounts, etc)that was community property while married, then you were entitled to your share. In a no fault state that would be 50/50. In some states however it could be more. But the extended funeral cost would come out of his part of the estate and not out of the estate prior to being split. So if the estate was of any measure you would definetly want to seek not only a civil attorney but a criminal attorney to see if any charges can be brought(They likely can as most states consider assets frozen until a divorce is settled)

Yes, you can sue them, and no, you are in no way liable for the funeral bill. When his family made the funeral arrangements, they would have had to sign a contract for the funeral. Since your name is no where near the contract, you cannot be held liable, and if they try to say you are, I would get a lawyer because you definitely are not.

I presume that whoever signed the contract with the funeral home is responsible. Let them try to sue you. If you didn't sign, you have a valid defense against paying the bill. Unfortunately, you will probably have to hire an attorney to protect your rights.
Act timely, if you fail to act timely, you may waive your rights.
GOOD LUCK

If items were "stolen" that were rightfully yours and you can prove it, you can sue for the items or its replacement. As for the funeral home, they cannot sue you, if you had notihing to do with the arrangements or any contact with the funeral home, I would not worry arount it, but do contact an attorney for your items. I think at that funeral home, they are drinking too much of that embalming fulid.

they cannot sue for any contract they signed. as for property, if he had no will, the state must decide the disposition of assets. if you live in a community property state it can be argued they are criminally liable for the property they took. seek legal advise and go with it. just remember, it may be rather expensive to fight them for your property. i would also file crimijnal theft charges against them for taking property to which they were not entitled without a court decree.

You don't owe the dead bastard or his old geezers anything. If you truly believe that you were wronged, then I would recommend you fight to keep what's yours. If that asshole truly did beat you, then he and his trashy family deserve every bit of retributive justice that's heaped on them.
