Orange juice and bananas. My husband has cancer and as a side effect of treatments has significant fluid retention. He has been prescribed a diuretic, which can cause potassium to drop. His oncology team has told us he needs to eat bananas and drink orange juice every day.

Over the counter vitamins are restricted from allowing any more than 95mg of potassium in their products. You need 3500mg/day. Potassium is very available in fresh fruits and veggies especially the green leafies. I have been working to boost my potassium with fruit juices, fresh fruits and veggies. edamame is a great source of potassium with 695 mg/serving. I eat it as a snack several times a week.

there are over-the-counter vitamins that contain potassium, and there are over-the-counter potassium supplements, but neither are very absorbale, and really don't help boost potassium. if your potassium is low (according to your doctor), then he should give you diet tips or prescribe you prescription potassium supplements or other medications that will increase your potassium. potassium is a very important component in the body, too much or too little is very bad for you and can lead to many heart and brain related problems. don't take potassium unless your doctors says you need to, dietary potassium (like bananas) is usually safe though if you are having cramps.

Kiwis are high in potassium, so is the juice of a young coconut (what I am referring to is often known as "coconut water", not to be confused with coconut milk)

well i can not understand your care about potassium unless you are facing a renal problem... so i suggest that you refer to your physician to solve your problem of hypokalemia... this will be better than eating banana and other vitamin supplement... because curing is much better than treatment of symptoms!
