Could be any number of a huge amount of reasons, ranging from a dodgy power lead to a virus.
Does it always do it a specific time after booting? If so, it could well be to do with overheating.
Does it always do it when a specific program is accessed/task is carried out? If so, check for known issues with that program/task.
Does it always do it when accessing a particular disk? If so, check that disk for errors, try doing the same job off a different disk.
Really, we need more information. For a start, which operating system you're using and an idea of the hardware under it. Knowing what the problem is comes in handy, too.

i imagine you've put in too many softwares on your computing device. If those are literally not sensible then uninstall it. yet when those are sensible then you could installation 'TuneUp Utilities 2013' and then disable each and every of the softwares except antivirus and supplies you up motor vehicle initiate apps. there's a yet another excuse, in the adventure that your computing device is contaminated with viruse then experiment the completed computing device and delete the virus archives.

Could be a bad or corrupt driver, or a virus. You need to put the computer into safe mode and see if it still does it, then you need to do a limited boot to see if you can isolate the bad driver.

Could be software issues or they may be a hardware problem. you can find out by re-installing the operating system and then you will see if the machine hangs again. if it does NOT then great it was a software issue if it does you have hardware probs. remeber to back up your data.
