Which is better for teenagers (17,14,13)? We initially wanted to go to Disney but their *friends* claim Universal Studios is better. We'll be there for 5 days. I want to make sure they'll have plenty to do for those 5 days. Universal has a very nice price offer too!

You say they "claim" as if you don't quite believe they're correct. And as a matter of fact, they are very incorrect. If you're going for five days and want them to have plenty to do then Walt Disney World is the better decision. Walt Disney World and Univeral Studios are completely different from each other - would you like to go to the largest Resort destination and number one vacation destination in the world or a mediocre wanna-be Disney park. Walt Disney World has four different theme parks, two water parks, Downtown Disney, and so much recreation, too. Universal Studios has two theme parks. Each of the Walt Disney World theme parks is so large and has so many attractions that each takes at least one full day to complete, EPCOT and the Magic Kingdom can take even longer. You can complete both of the Universal Studios theme parks in one day. What are you guys going to do for the other three or four days? I can't stress it enough... Walt Disney World is much better than Universal Studios. If you were going for one day, then it wouldn't matter, but your famiy will be very disappointed if you waste your money for five days at Universal Studios.

Now, you mentioned that Universal Studios has a very nice price offer. You understand that the reason is because the competition with Walt Disney World is so tough that they have to offer lower prices just to get business from anyone besides Florida residents. It's actually funny. As soon as Disney started advertising their "Happiest Celebration on Earth" in 2005 Universal Studios began advertising "Kids Stay & Eat for Free." Then they had a new one for "One Free Night!" And then they had another one for "Free Car Rental." In 2005 each of the four Walt Disney World theme park attendances grew by at least five percent while the Universal Studios theme park attendances dropped by eight and a half percent. They have to keep offering lower prices in order to compete with Walt Disney World. But just because the price is nicer doesn't mean you're going to have a nicer time. You surely won't.

Check out the Walt Disney World website and take a look at the all the rides and shows there are...

Then check out this Disney Parks website and order the free vacation planning DVD so your kids can watch and see everything there is to do at Walt Disney World...

Then if you want you can go to the Universal Studios website to see what little they have to offer. They have a few big roller coasters and then that's it. I guess you can see how many times you can ride the same five roller coasters in five days.

Anyway, whatever your family decides, have a great vacation!

* Just a note, because a lot of people on here think Walt Disney World has all kiddie rides, Walt Disney World actually has more thrill rides than Universal Studios. I go to Walt Disney World with my boyfriend every summer and we have the most amazing time (obviously, we keep going back!) We always go for a minimum of ten days and we don't go on any of the "kiddie" rides. Apparently there's a lot more to Walt Disney World than kiddie rides. In fact, even in ten or eleven days we don't have enough time to do everything we want. We never leave Walt Disney World property either.

ok to be honest 5 days at disney is way better then universal. Disney is freakin huge. We did do Universal island of adventure and Universal studios in one day and covered about everything, went the second day and did everything twice and found ourselves bored. We went there in Jan aswell so no crowds. Before we went to disney for 5 days and barely covered everything. I am not saying Univeral sucks but disney is that much better for both young and old.
hope you have a good time where ever you will go.

Universal will keep them occupied for a couple of days, but they would probably enjoy Disney MGM studio as well.

The rides / attractions are much better at Universal, and when we were there the staff were much better than those at Disney. Disney MGM Studio has a few good attractions for teenagers but would only keep them occupied for a day.

Could check out the water parks at Disney : Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach

The Hard Rock cafe at Universal is really good for an evening meal, after the exertions of the day.

All of the parks have rides. They are mostly tame at Disney with a few exceptions but nevertheless, quite entertaining. For thrill rides in one location your best bet is Universal's Islands of Adventure park. But if you've never been to Disney, their parks are pretty magical places! And teenage boys often say they won't like the Disney parks and then enjoy the heck out of them when they get there. Have fun!

I went with both with my children, now 17 & 15 a couple years back. If you could go to Walt Disney for a couple of days to take in the classics, then Universal Studios the next 3 days for rides like the incredible hulk and double dragon.
I personally liked Univeral Studios the most.

Definately Universal, I just went there about a month ago and it was way better than Disney.
The beauty of Universal is there are actually two parks - Universal Studios and Adventure Island, therefore when you get a ticket you get admission two both!

Universal has some great rides such as "The Mummy Returns", "Shrek 4d", "Terminator 3D". Plus Adventure Island has all the thirll seeking rides such as "the Hulk", my personal favourite "Spiderman", "Jurassic Park", "Dueling Dragons".

So there's a lot more to do at Universal, and its better value for money. Disney kinda sucks, and there are always massive lines to get on any of the rides. Go for Universal!

Me in 16yrs old and Ive been to Disneyland and Universal Studios and as a teenager i would go to universal Studios, Because they have a variety of amusement rides on a teens level, Disney on the other hand is more of a fantasy, kiddie place.

universal studios definitely. if teenagers go to disney world i think they would mainly be interested at MGM. Universal studios has more thrilling rides, and still has a great theme. depends if they like roller coasters. disney is a good experience, but if you are going for the rides, pick universal
