"The dome was never going to work but actually came from a tory dinner party"

Actually what became the dome was not. The dome as envisaged by the tories was a permanent structure designed to last the next 1000 years and celebrate the best of the last 1000 years. A magnificent dome, out-shining the Taj-Mahal in India and a symbol of our national pride and our place in the world.

Labour took over the project and turned it into a plastic piss-take.

The dome as it is now, is a perfect piece of symbolism representitive of the Labour party. A plastic, expensive and utterly pointless failure!

The Wembly project is ALSO very symbolic of a Blair government insofar as it is representitive of his attitude to the English and for the vast majority of his tenure, the English have not had a home for their national game! We've had to go to Wales to see our national game played at the highest level. Another expensive insult.

I dread to think what these bunch of incompetent and corrupt tossers will make of the Olympics.

After lying us into war and turning the UK into a political rogue state around the world, Blair may well have the Olympics as another example of turning our nation into an international embarrasment.

Wembley contract is fixed (the company building it will have to pay for any overspend) most of the overspend was due to politicians meddling with the design (the wanted a athletics track so they had to redesign it, then the government changed their mind and said it was okay for Wembley to be just a football stadium).

The Olympics is down to bad costing (fancy not including VAT and inflation in the costing model same on PWC).

The Dome was a nightmare to get to so no one bothered

With all that money swilling about, little piggies snouts are in the trough.

Greedy little piggies with sticky trotters, and important piggy friends.

It's not the Politicians fault that they are so naive as to not know that outright fiddling is happening.

Once the 'Polies' get to Planet Westminster, they've had their brain removed.

Any right minded person would have known that they underestimated the costs as a carrot. Then surprise; the costs have risen.

The problem is that the average Joe is so apathetic, doesn't vote, doesn't care, only looks at page three and the sports page, the Piggies know it, totally rely on it.

dome was never going to work but actually came from a tory dinner party, Wembley will be worth it when it is finished and the olympics always come in over budget no matter what government organises them (the greek one was something like 3 times over budget i think)

'enigma_ va ' like all fans of New Labour forgets that his beloved political party could have vetoed the dome in 1997 but hey, all their chums in the building industry might not have donated to New Labour. Snouts and troughs comes to mind. Everything they touch(the government) turns to rats*hit for the taxpayer but solid gold for the businesses concerned.
