Loud pipes don't save lives. Proper training, safety equipment and defensive driving do.

The only thing that loud pipes do is piss off people, cause us more un-needed and un-wanted legislation, and lose riding areas for us.

Less Sound = More Ground.

The idea that loud pipes save lives is ridiculous. The only people who tell that story are loud pipe manufacturers, people who believe the loud pipe manufacturers, and those who have small penises according to the video.

Over (about) 45 Miles per hour you start to outrun the noise being generated from the pipes.

I have been riding for over 20 years and never had a loud bike nor have I been run off the road by a car. I attribute this to how I ride. Not to the sound of my bike.

My pipes get loud when I’m on the gas and all that does is scare the crap out of people as I pass them. Why, because I out drove the sound and they didn’t know I was coming up on them until I was right next to them. My presence along with the sound that is traveling with me gets to the side of there car at the same time.

Ask Police officers and ambulance drivers. People can’t hear the sirens until you right on them. Ever look in your rear view and see an ambulance. Notice you cant hear the siren until they are up on top of you? Same with small penis pipes.

I would say the loud pipes are definitely a ‘look at me device’ and some like to think it has a real purpose. Is it a direct relation to penis size probably but I don’t think any studies have concluded this yet. If you are riding a really obnoxiously loud bike and a couple guys in white coats come up and ask to measure your penis, you now know why.

Loud pipes do NOT save lives. Well I take that back. They might keep car drivers from running into the back of a bike because they are trying to stay away from the irritating sound waves. But as far as a car coming from the opposite direction. They won't hear the loud pipes until the bike is on top of them or just after they pull out in front of it.
Safe riding habits, helmets and riding gear saves lives.

As you can tell, the whole LPSL is a freakin' MYTH. over 90% of all motorcycle accidents with another vehicle happen HEAD ON, not because someone pulled into your lane. Since pipes DO NOT face forward, no one in front of the bike even hears the pipes anyway.

Therefore, the only reason to get loud pipes is to get attention. "Clutch" and "Vic" have fallen for the hype, and probably don't realize that wearing a helmet will save you 1000 times before straight pipes will.

Loud pipes do not save lives. I have aftermarket pipes that are not loud. I am concerned that when enough non-bikers complain, they will pass state laws that check the exhaust volume at inspection time. That's the last thing we as a biker community needs - more laws.

Loud pipes may piss people off, but if you didn't have them, they would be the same people that don't see you and run you off the road or cause you to lose your life.

Drivers are always claiming that "I didn't see them", after they hit them, but then complain about pipes being too long.

I ride in the District of Columbia, I pray and thank God everyday I ride for favor. I'm tired of someone not seeing me on my bright read bike.

I wish my bike was louder so if they don't hear my horn, which they never do, then they could hear and feel my pipe.

I haven't spent a lot of time inspecting poser-peni, but I would imagine there is some solid science behind the facts stated in the video. Nobody would make a commercial like that without making sure they were legitimately representing the Harley Davidson contingent.

1: No.
2: Don't care.

My pipes are louder than stock, but quiet enough so the cops don't give a first look. The only reason I get a second look from them is because of how my bike looks.

Sad but true. I have ridden all kinds of motorcycles for 35 years and I can tell you,
the only thing loud pipes are good for is PISSING PEOPLE OFF.
It makes folks hate motorcycles.
