Bit of an exaggeration. Yes there are useless parents in the UK, as in every other country. Most parents are caring, hard working and do their very best for their children. However they are prevented from disciplining them, mustn't smack! The children are told that they have rights and deserve respect that people have no right to stop them behaving badly or even dangerously. In this country there has been a case of an old lady sworn at, pushed over and her arm broken because she put up her stick to stop a young thug from pushing her around. She was arrested nothing happened to the youth - get the picture? It's all about rights. Teachers can be wrongly accused of sex crimes or assault and they are guilty before proved innocent - totally against the criminal law in the UK. Perverts in authority insist on graphic and ugly sex lessons be given to children as young as 7 but because they are part of a government quango they don't face prosecution. Don't blame all the parents I feel very sorry for them, I am so glad my children are grown.

Partly due to the nanny state and the power is taken away from fathers and mothers. In the past a child was turned into a man or woman now they get turned into 'infant adults' with little self respect or pride. many question on here reflect this poor state of affairs.
So the parents are useless in the UK.

Some children need,as a last resort,a good smack on the a*s,but neither the parents nor the teachers are allowed to do that. The government & the do-gooders then have the audacity to blame the parents for their childrens' mis-behaviour.The same type insisted in giving innocent children sex 'education' in school,& were then very surprised at the massive increase in teen-age pregnancies.I'm sure i'll get 'thumbs-down' for my views, but the facts speak for themselves.

To drive a car, fly a plane or carry a gun you need a licence but to have something a million times more precious you don't even need to be a decent human being.

The word education comes to mind but for some so called 'parents' in this world all the teaching in the world will make no diffference.

All we can rely on is that the child will see the short comings of the parents and ensure that it is not carried onto their children, just as you will try and not make the same mistakes as yours.

My father was very strict, at times very aggressive and i was even scared of him.
There is absolutely no way i will ever be like he was with me and my sister, to talk to him now as a changed man you hear it in his voice he regrets a lot that happened.

They say children are our future, i think they just could be right.

I totally agree. Look at when they was pushing hamburgers through school gates cos their kids didnt want healthy food I think that is disgraceful. And then you have little kids (the ages before school) already fat with their mums taking the kids into macdonalds. I just think do you not know what you are doing? It just completely baffles me!!
The way they get away without using their manners. And I hate this thing were they get free bus fare. It really pisses me off cos they totally disrespect it. You got me on my soap box there!!

My mom rocks too! I don't know what your talking about. Every parent has there own methods. And to say they are a bad parent may be just an opinion, unless it's totally apparent that they are horrible parents.

drop in moral standards, shift away from God, then they turn back and blame their immorality on "religion". Most bad parents set few boundaries, its lots of "freedom" (freedom in the negative sense) and then calling it a "free country" ...as if there's countries who still practise slavery?? apparently its just as bad in the states, but having worked with school kids here for at least 4 years, these are my conclusions above. sorry to all those exceptions who actually DO care and do make time and effort to teach their children sound values.

As opposed to which parents. A lot of parents suck due to lack of education, comparitvely we not the worst for abuse or neglect. we do however need to raise the barr a little higher when it comes to satisfactory child care
