It was Hope, and yes, hope is still relevant today. Without hope, we have no reason to go on, for there to be progression and invention. Hope keeps us from laying down and dying.

Hope was at the bottom of the box and it did escape. And I don't know about all this "being a woman" stuff. If you give a box to anyone and say "don't open it" they're gonna wanna open it. It's a human thing, not a woman thing. Though Pandora and the box WERE created to destroy men... Didn't quite work, did it?

Do you know what the original meaning of the Pandora's box is of?... Well I will tell you ! Pandora was the a name of o British ship in the 17 or 18 hundreds that carried prisoners , and this prisoners were incarcerated in a box room on top of the rear deck , well as it was it began to sink in a storm and they debated about letting the prisoners out of the box , and so the folklore of this incidence became the " The Pandora's box "

there are several versions:
this is one i learned when i was little:

Hermes came back just in time to shut the lid before even more things escape from the box. Hope was the last thing made out to the world. So there are more things locked in that never revealed. Since they are never reveal, human will never know what they are. bad or good? no one knows.

i learned this version later on.
Pandora released everything. She shut the lid immediately leaving only Hope locked in. Only later on, she released Hope.

No matter what, Hope is the last thing that escaped from the box. and the only good thing.

Hope of course, but I was watching the History channel the other day and there was a story on it. Did you know in the original story, hope was seen as evil too? It gave humans the power to control destiny.......

i don't know what it was, everyone on here is saying hope, and i beleive them, but being the person that i am i am not gonna say hope to , but will anwser the end, is it still relevant today, in short and in relvance to where she is supposedly located right now, no, cause if she ain't in the world with the reast of the evils then no, hope to day is not relevant, cause mankind took hope away. prayer and fervant worship on the other hand is.

Yeah, it was hope- but does that make hope an evil as well? I often wonder about that... would we be better off without it? What could the meaning be? 'Hope is the weakest evil', something like that? Very revelant.

Yes
It is relevant, Look at mankind.
When we are faced with such evil and dispare, we turn away from god and decide that he is not real, because he let all this bad stuff happen. We left the hope behind.
