i have a older computer that the kids play with and it keeps telling me too put boot disk in it i dont have one but i have a linux cd i want to put on it but it dont work after i download it,after i am done, it starts up the same way put boot disk in HELP PLEASE

I'm not sure about Linux, but it sounds like you need to format your hard drive. If it was working and quit, it's possible your hard drive died a horrible painful death. I'd try formating it and running a scandisk program. Did you do anything else to it, or did it just stop working...?
Another option is if someone got into CMOS and changed your boot up options...

Sounds like you need to format the drive before installing the OS on it. Appears that it has more than one partition on it. It is loading Linux on one partition and trying to boot from another.

It sounds like you either need to format or your drive died. The drive getting fried is not due to your kids use (so don't blame them for that). They just kick the bucket after time (I've seen some drives last 3 months!). Take it to a computer store and get them to test the hard drive for you.
