30+ states still require front license plates. Most states required front license plates at one time, but in time, many eliminated front plates. The two most recent states to do away with front plates were Michigan (in 1981) and Arizona (in 1989).

I live in Ontario, and all cars still have license plates on the front and the back. Even when one test drives a car they have to put a temporary plate on the front and back.. either that or on the dash in the window

This is state dependent. A lot of states require plates to be present at all times on the front and the back of cars and trucks. in the state that I live in it's a $75.00 fine if you are missing the front plate and a $300.00 fine if you are missing the back plate (Which makes sense). I would check with your DMV and see if the plate really is not required in your state. If so congrats!

It varies by state. In my home state, plates are only required on the back. I read in Motor Trend that more than half of the 50 states still require plates on the front and back of the vehicle.

In Va, I had both a back and front plate. When I moved to N.C. they handed me one at the DMV and I asked where the 2nd one was. Here it's only one for the back and you can put a vanity plate on the front.
