I worked in retail for 5 years after college and I have had some really rude "guests" and some really nice guests. Little advise the customer is always right that is why target calls them guests because a guest can be wrong it is how we react to them that makes the difference. For the majority not real bad but AMERICAN SOCIETY HAS GOTTEN TO materialistic and therefore it shows up in the stores.

I've worked in grocery for over 6 years now and the past 4 years I have been at Safeway Inc. Being that Safeway really aims to please customers, being a food clerk (checker), I really see how people tend to abuse our service. Some customers know that they can get away with being jerks, so that is why I think that they like to act out. However, I don't always believe in the "customer is always right" policy and we honor it to an extent. But once it crosses the line, we are quick to let a person know that they can't get away with it that easy next time they come in.

I have worked in retail for 10+ years. I believe that the majority of the people do not abuse the Customer is always right policy. But there is that handful that completely abuse it. We have actually banned some customers because we know they will just be trouble. The worst for our community are the elderly and those on Vision (welfare/food stamps).

I spent 15+ years working in the retail establishment, and I came across very few people who tried to take advantage of the situation. Most were legitimate beefs- not having things on ad, wrong pricing, returns for damage, etc. There was a guy who tried to return a used condom (he said it didn't work and his girlfriend was now pregnant) that was not honored ( cringe); or, people tried to return used underwear and socks, which by law can't be returned to the store ( yet the manufacterer may issue a credit). These days I think the return/exchange rules on DVDs or computer software is still pretty harsh, since once development costs are covered and with the minimal amount of disks, it's pure profit for the companies.
