Research done prior to 1996 on embryonic stem cells was effectively stopped by the right to life movement, and gag orders put in place. If you want the research, don't block it.

*sigh*..For those who pretend to not pay attention, SOME republicans are against embryonic stem cell research because they claim that adult stem cells can accomplish the same thing. Now please, answer the question

Their arguments lack objectivity and facts.
What's so special about life? The way republicans treat life out of the womb, and care about people who are hungry and needy, or children with no homes or medical care...I'd say they don't think too much about life.
You just need to be devoid of all logic, have a simple narrow world model where no actions have any secondary consequences, be willing to think like a total hypocrite, and then it all makes perfect sense.

I'll turn the argument on its head. If an unborn baby is "just a clump of cells," then why are embryonic stem cells so special?
Before you ask, I'll answer. If I had Parkinson's or some other disease and a doctor told me embryonic stem cells were the only way to save me, I'd probably be in favor of it.
But if they told me the only way to save me was to kill 10 babies, or 100 anonymous people, or 1,000 Yahoo Answers posters, I'd probably be just as enthusiastic for it.
LOTS of organs, tissues, etc. could help others. But it's not fair to take them if someone else is already using them, is it?
PS A sperm or an egg is NOT a complete human, just as a skin cell alone is not a human. A fertilized egg IS a human - unique DNA. Again, check the science - something that it's sometimes more convenient to ignore. Much mischief has been caused by the attempt to DE-HUMANIZE. Oh well . . .
PPS I disagree with you, but I enjoy your questions. :)

you're lifeless incorrect! Stem cellular examine isn't homicide. they're in basic terms cells, cells that would have died besides in maximum situations. maximum researchers now are utilising embryos from fertility clinics that could have been discarded, the donors have the two been useful at having a toddler or have given up attempting and not elect the embryos. those embryos could die, yet via utilising them for stem cellular examine they stay and could grant others with a wager to stay. Stem cells from adults are actually not in basic terms as stable. in basic terms specific kinds of grownup stem cells are attainable, they can't differentiate into all the countless cells of the physique. additionally they don't advance nicely in lifestyle. Embryonic stem cells do advance nicely in lifestyle, so in basic terms some are mandatory and that they are in a position to be grown into any style of cellular in the physique. Is killing one among your dermis cells homicide? Embryonic stem cells have not grow to be something yet (could be a dermis cellular), yet they could be a treatment for diabetes, Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, and a great variety of alternative ailments. via the way Bush supported limited stem cellular examine.

Part of the problem is people like you. You don't tell the truth. You lie to try and get people to sympathize with your way of thinking.
Embryonic stem cell research is going on all around the world including right here in the USA. Noone has put a ban on it. The decision was made that the government would not fund it for various reasons.
As for Right to Lifers... You may not believe that life begins at conception but there are those that do and maybe you should respect that.
Embryonic stem cell therapy has not been proven to cure one disease, not one. Adult stem cell therapy has been proven to cure many diseases and conditions. Yet we hear nothing about advancing with the research in regards to it.
I contend that the whole controversy in regards to embryonic stem cell research has to do with the right to life versus the pro choice movements. It is as simple as that. The prochoice people are playing on the sympathy of people who have had to deal with diseases such as Alzheimers and Parkinson's. It is cruel to give false hope to people when there has NOT been one bit of proof that embryonic stem cell therapy will accomplish anything.
People like you are too ignorant to see it for what it is. Pro choicers are scared to death that if an embryo is considered "alive" what comes next, stopping all abortions? It is the same arguement why they fight to keep partial birth abortions viable options to end unwanted pregnancies and that is MURDER plain and simple.

Well, the thing is that life doesn't begin with that division. Life never stopped. Life can only come from other life. Those cells are alive, but only as much as adult stem cells or liver cells or cells in your stomach.

The argument revolves around when life begins. The pro-life camp argues that an individual starts at the first division, because at that point, the cells have a new, unique genetic code. (Although I haven't quite figured out how they work out monozygotic twins, yet.)

Maybe we need more scientific proof of the efficacy of the research.
Seems to me the issue is more about funding. If Science really cared about this research, they would find the funding for it and take it out of the political realm.
EDIT: The people who oppose embryonic stem cell research on religious objection also oppose in vitro fertilization, for the same reasons. I will leave it to them to persuade me. So far, the issue for me is about federal funding of this research.
