they are both the opposites of the other .....if that counts as a similarity...black and white are both the absences of color... fire and ice both have to do with extreme temperatures

-both are english words
-both are colors
-both describe racial ethnicity

fire & ice
-both represent extreme conditions
-both are essential for living comfortably
