by a landslide....Marijuana..
• Tar from cannabis cigarettes contains up to 50 per cent higher concentrations of carcinogens benzathracenes and benzpyrenes than tobacco smoke
• THC, the primary psychoactive ingredient of cannabis, decreases the function of immune system cells that help protect the lungs from infection
• The average cannabis cigarette smoked in the 1960s contained about 10 milligrams of tetrahydrocanabinol (THC), the primary psychoactive ingredient. Today, it may contain 150 mg.
"This means that the modern cannabis smoker may be exposed to greater doses of THC than in the 1960s or 1970s," says the report. "This in turn means that studies investigating the long-term effects of smoking cannabis have to be interpreted cautiously."
Smoking pure marijuana is at least as harmful to lungs as smoking tobacco, a report from the British Lung Foundation concludes. And in some key ways, it may be more dangerous.
For example, the BLF's review of previous research highlights that just three marijuana joints a day causes the same damage to the lung's airways as 20 cigarettes, mainly because of the way joints are smoked.
Individually, cannabis and tobacco produce the same constituents and quantities of chemicals known to be toxic to respiratory tissue, other than nicotine, the report says. But when cannabis and tobacco are smoked together, the health effects are worse.

"According to a recent study by the University of California Los Angeles, there is no increased lung cancer risk in smoking marijuana.
The study presented at the annual American Thoracic Society meeting this week in San Diego, studied the lives of those under 60, since that age group is most to have been exposed to the heaviest amounts of marijuana use."

Cigarettes are worse, because most people don't smoke 10 or 20 joints a day.

I know where you are going with this and I agree with you. They both are just as dangerous as the other. At one time the AMA and the American Cancer Society explored the idea of manufacturing THC in pill form in fact they are now prepared to make it happen. I recently wrote the legalization Society in Holland and read up the decline in crime since they legalized it. They have not done what I had been led to believe they had done, but still it is close. I (I am a old man) tried to explain to my Senators how this is tying up our legal system, ruining peoples life's with an arrest record but no one wanted to hear it. You young whipper snappers should set-up a web site and advertise it here and on myspace and fight that law. A good argument would be in legalizing it you defeat the terrorist since you would be depriving them of the profits from the drugs.
God Bless You and The Southern People.

Legally, marijuana. Physically, cigarettes. Recent research indicates lung damage from pot can be reversable....while nicotine and cigarette smoke damage can not. They are also finding the same result with brain cells that die due to smoke inhalation of pot vs. cigarettes, but no studies have been released as of yet...at least in America.

smoking cigaretts is worse because for one if you do it you will most likely get addicted right off the bat. with marijuana you only can get addicted to it if you smoke it way too much.

Until they criminalize cigarettes (which I believe will eventually happen), marijuana is worse. You can't get arrested for being in possession of a Marlboro if you're over 18.

Cigarettes.
Although Marijuana has been found to increase your chances of lung cancer along with other negative side effects. In the end, it's no where CLOSE to the damage done by cigarettes.
