Should the US bomb Iran without conclusive evidence that Iran is close to developing a nuclear bomb?

Bombing is pointless they built there facilities with our bombs in mind. Thus any attack would be worthless as the facilities are way underground and well armored. Invasion as Iraq proved is quite out of the question. The best response is to let them have there toys and let them know that they have now made themselves targets for our nuclear arsenal. This kind of deterrence has worked to keep nuclear powers in line before and will again. No matter if the govt is full of religious or political fanatics in the end they are human and don't want to die if it can be avoided.

Like a lot of things in life, you have to weigh the alternatives here. None seem good. But we have to pick one.

If we bomb, we will encounter tremendous world criticism and outrage, and create many enemies among the Iraniam people, who are more disposed to like Americans than their government lets on. Plus, we may not get everything.

If we don't bomb and keep up negotiations, the Iranian government will probably just jerk us around and buy time, while they develop the weapons to destabilize the region, and probably give a weapon to someone willing to use it here. Boom - a US city (or two or three) gone.

I think we have to be serious about military action as well as other sanctions against Iran.

before everything we could continually see some evidence that Iran is bobbing up nukes. as quickly as the evidence is on the table, a diplomatic team can press Iran against public opinion and attempt by utilising diplomatic skill to get Iran to drop its direction of action (the two that or a minimum of legitimize a military intervention -conflict or embargo- in the past the media). Then, if mandatory, build an embargo or initiate military action, yet be arranged for effects.

Hell No! First of all why is it O.K. for the U.S. and other major powers to possess nuclear weapons and not the middle east? Just because they may one day use them? Do you really think they are that stupid? They use their propaganda that they are making weapons to get everybody else going. Maybe they are developing them. We can't stop them. They are their own separate countries with their own individual rulers. Are they a threat? Yes. But the U.S. can't keep butting in to foreign gov't affairs. They don't care half as much about the U.S. as they do Israel. If Israel can have their own state, why can't the Palestinians and every other culture? The U.S. spends too much time trying to get other countries to follow their lead and it only gets us in trouble. Someone in the gov't should really wise up and see that the more they interfere, the more problems we will have.

Iraq have categorically denied any wmd and yet it was invaded ........ and country like north korea and Iran which are nuclear capable are untouched and in the case of north korea ........EVEN REWARDED ........ it's sick logic ......... does bush know Iraq didn't have wmd and that was why it was invaded?
