Why do they put actors/actress in sequals that look nothing like the original?

Like they play the same characters but its different people.

Are they on such low budgets to get the same people or do they think people won't notice?

*prince and me 2 for example*

or but actors/actress in the sequals that nobody has ever heard of?

is it because when the first movie was made those actors/actress were unknowns? now they are "too big"

Lack of funding, the actors might already be involved in another project, they got too old, there are many reasons. But I think it'd be better not to make a sequel then, unless you KNOW that this person could do a better job than the original.

For many different reasons (many already mentioned). Here's some more examples:
Julianna Moore replaced Jodi Foster as Starling in 'Hannibal' simply because Jodi didn't like the script. So she declined and role went to Julianna.

When they made the 'sequel' to Rocky Horror, called 'Shock Treatment', they got a 'new' Brad and a 'new' Janet. For better or worse ;-) To mix things up though, they used several actors from the first movie but they're playing different parts in the sequel. The returning characters were the ones replaced by new actors...lol

Or how about Mortal Kombat where Sonja Blade is played by two different looking actresses. And Christopher Lambert's charater got a new actor in the second. You're right, it really takes away from "getting into the movie". The best "aged" actor portrayal was Ewan Mcgregor playing a young Obi-Wan...looked so much like a young Sir Alec Guiness.

its probably cuz the original actor/actress probably quit or got to old to act on a sequel such as prince and me 2.
