They sell bottles that attach to your garden hose and spray powdered plant food onto the lawn..I would try that only substitute dye powder for the plant food. Make sure your dye is natural so you don't kill the grass.
Please don't try spray paint!

I know it :) Add blue food colouring in the water - it's great on potplants! For distribution, you could clamp the bottle of paint under the hose end and add a straw, I suppose you get a primitive paintbrush type of thing... the positive fact is that the grass not just gets coloured from the outside, but also takes in the colour with the water, so that it also is blue from the inside!
- indulging youself in paintball art- target: grass will only hold till the next rain and makes the earth a wasteland! Also, the paint is not developed for living creatures, so your grass will suffocate.

Try a fertilizer, bug or weed control store. They should have a liquid marking dye. Its used by commercial landscape contractors and farmers so they can mix it with their weed control chemicals and water. When they spray the chemical, it marks where they have sprayed - so they don't spray the same area twice. For your application, use the ortho dial spray attachment that attaches to the end of your hose. The dial is used to select what ratio of oz. of chemical per gal of water. Follow the directions on the bottle of marking dye and spray away! Be careful with the concentrated dye. And, oh yeah, get the blue marking dye!!!

Get some tracker tablets at a commercial fertilizer supply store. Check your phone book for 'Lesco.' They'll explain how to use. Won't hurt the turf and will soon wash off with rain.

just spray it with some blue decoration coloring, which you could get from any crafts store. it comes out sort of like a spray of blue powder and can cover evenly.
