it depends. i went through my entire scholastic career wrapping and spraining my ankle. nothing ever seemed effective. if it was tight enough to keep it from twisting it was too tight and cut off the circulation and made my foot ache. finally when i was about 32 i broke it playing softball. the surgeon said when he got in there he found evidence of torn ligaments from old injuries. so you might have a specialist examine it for that possibility. good luck.

Wear a brace or wrap it up. Make sure the shoes you are wearing have good ankle support if possible. The best thing to do when you do sprain it is keep off of it. Elevate it and ice it. Only ice it for a little bit and then give it a break. When you do have to walk, again wear a brace or wrap it. It's not all the uncomfortable.

I badly sprained my ankle about 3 weeks ago. I was in a hurry going down the stairs, lost my balance and landed on a bad side of my left foot, causing my left ankle to be stretched going on the inside. The first 48 hours were excruciating and the pain was un-believable. I've never had a serious ankle injury before.

So I immediately treated it using the RICE method. The following day, the bruising and swelling were so horrible. I found out that I got a second degree sprain and immediately panicked after that. I had a football game on that week and it been looking forward to it because I've been training for rt. I had teammates that had similar injuries and it took them months to fully recover, some of them stopped playing altogether. So I kinda had a short-term depression because I can't imagine myself not being able to run and play sports anymore.

Because I was so desperate to recover again, I contacted a lot of people that I know who do sports and asked them if they had similar injuries. One friend of mine, from the boy's football team in my university, told me about H.E.M. Ankle Rehab. I got a copy 4 days after I got injured. I immediately read and followed what was instructed and felt improvement on the first day. I was able to walk a bit, but I was in pain.

A couple of days after that, the swelling and bruising were subsid-ing significantly and on the fourth day, I was walking comfortably again. Although I've had felt a bit of stiffness, I continued doing what was instructed. My sister was surprised that I have recovered this fast. I told her about this book and was shocked on how effective the procedures were. I'm just so happy that this book was shared to me and how effective it is.

Heal your ankle fully & fast?

Get a rigid or stiff ankle brace and use that to play in.. I fractured my wrist in high school (i'm 30 now) and I play coed softball since then 12+ years. I still and always will havew a weaknesds in that wrist and I notice as I get older that it predicts the weather for me. It aches when it is going to rain. odd...but common to alot of people. Anyway I started with a real rigid brace, doesn't move alot either direction gives the maximum amount of support and over the years as it has continued to not be injured because I wear the braces it has slowly grown stronger. As it grows stronger you can notice that you don't need as much support as you once did with it being a fresh injury. Patience is the key for both of your questions. There is no quick way to heal an injury ----rest and prevention, Godd Luck ;0)

i have weak anckles, u probably do to, if it happens to u a lot. ask a physical therapist for ways to strengthen them. (its to hard to explain over the internet)

to keep it from spraining, tape it before practices and games. this will give it more support, and keep it in line. but make sure u dont tape it to tight tho. ask yur coach to do it properly, if you dont know how.

once its sprained, ice it for the first 2 days. after that, use a heating pad. also, keep it moving. dont let it get to stiff, or it might take a couple weeks to heal.

good luck with it. just ask if u have any other questions

Before playing make sure you wrap your ankles tight. and if u do sprain it just ice it and keep it moving around

you need a brace for it. it will only get worse and sprain easier if you dont. and keep off of it for a while

you are talking about real sprains, not just twisting it right?

Perhaps you need to wrap it so it will only move in a certain way
