Well, a true vampire is secretive and never lets another know about their identity for obvious reasons. There are a lot of overzealous people out there that claim to be Slayers or Hunters and they will kill without acquiring all the facts so anonymity is crucial for survival.
Although blood is critical for existence, it is not the only food that is consumed. Meat is eaten rare, but it can be eaten.
Because the sipping at a throat is so intimate, feeding and sex go hand in hand. A lover probably won't even realize that a vampire is feeding from them because they are too caught up in the Ecstasy of orgasm.
Some vampires can go into the sunlight, although they can't see very well and the bright light causes migraines so naturally they prefer the dark.
There is a definite power to a vampire. They exude a confidence and sensuality that most mortals find intriguing and irresistible. In short humans find themselves drawn to their presence.
