I am guessing, because I have never heard of such a thing, but my guess is that your cat may have Diabetes. He sure has all the symptoms. I am quite sure he also urinates quite often. Take him to the Vet anyway, go to an Animal site and see if you can find out that way - but still take him to the Vet - I have been a cat owner for more years then I care to admit to, and have never experienced or heard of this symptom. Let us know. Good Luck, and take a bath from now on... unless he also likes to swim. I did have a cat once that loved to swim at the cottage. No kidding and then he would shake off and go into the Sauna house.

I had a cat that drank all the time, she had that feline desease and a type of diabeties, but I alos have a friend who's cat loves showers and goes in the water every time she gets the chance. A simple blood test at the vets will tell you. Good luck

Definitely have him checked for diabetes!
If it was just that he likes to play with water or be in it, that would be one thing - some cats are like that. There is even a whole breed that enjoys water. But excessive thirst is a very strong sign that he has diabetes.

Excessive water consumption CAN be a sign of diabetes in cats. I'd have him checked out just in case... but I'm sure he's fine. Some cats just love water (contrary to the popular belief that all cats HATE water). I have one who screams at me to turn the faucet on for him EVERY time I go into my bathroom. I have another who drinks almost exclusively out of a tabletop fountain we have. :)
I had a cat once who would swim out INTO the river to come to me!!! Luckily it was shallow! I was wading about 20 feet out and she was meowing at me from a rock. Then she hopped a few rocks to get closer... when she ran out of rocks... she jumped in and swam out to me! LOL Of course my cats are all indoor only now... so the most excitement they get is if they find themselves in the shower after the water gets turned on! LOL

Have the vet examine him for diabetes. One of the most obvious symptoms is excessive thirst. He may also have a renal problem. Either of these can be controlled with medication, but you need to get them taken care of right away.

No there is no medical problem here he just likes water! A lot!! You have to remember that cats are part of the big cat family like tigers and they LOVE water. I have a little tip to keep him occupied while you are not home. Keep you kitchen or bathroom faucet on a slow drip and he will have so muck fun drinking and playing with it! Hope this helps!

I would consider asking your vet if this is normal. Could just be that your cat happens to really like water, or there could be an underlying medical issue. Either way, better safe than sorry.

I don't know. He might just like water unless this is a new thing, I wuldn't worry if he's been doing this since he was a kitten. I had a cat who liked getting baths and he would jump in the pool. lol
