2x+y=15, 5x-6y+-22...

would like to clarify...

given:
2x+y=15
5x-6y-22=0 --> change to 5x-6y=22

(are the givens correct???)

given1: 2x+y=15
given2: 5x-6y=22

12x+6y=90 (multiply by 6 to cancel the y terms)
5x-6y=22
-------------
7x=112

x=112/7
x=6

if x=6, get teh value of y, using
2x+y=15
2(6)+y=15
y=15-12 (transfer to the other side, change the sign)
y=3

to check if x is correct, substitue to one of the given equations
2x+y=15
2(6) + 3 =15

using the other equation:
5x-6y=22
5(6)-6(3)=22
30-18=22

answer: x=6, y=3

2x + y = 15
5x - 6y = -22
Solve first equation for y and get:
y = 15 - 2x
Now substitute the above value for y in the second equation:
5x - 6(15 - 2x) = - 22
5x -90 + 12x = -22 +90
17x = 68
x = 4
Now substitute x = 4 into one of the original equations:
2(4) + y = 15
8 + y = 15
y = 7

A previous person gave you the right answer. X=4 and y=7 and it does check out. However you should note that equation 2 was mis typed. The way you wrote the equation it would imply 5X-6y+ - 22 = 0. This would make the answer a decimal.

purely replace the ordered pairs into the equations. e.g. 2x + y = 15 So if x = 3 and y = 11 replace them into the equation. 2(3) + 11 = 15 6 + 11 = 15 sixteen would not equivalent 15 so A isn't an answer. purely proceed like that for the different 3 alternatives.

2x+y = 15
y = 15 - 2 x (solve for y)

5x - 6(15 - 2x) =-22
5 x -90 + 12 x -22
17x -90 = - 22
17x = 68
x =4

2x+y=15
2 (4) +y = 15
8 + y = 15
y = 7
answer: x =4 , y = 7

2x+y=15 *6
12x+6y=90
5x-6y=-22
adding
17x=68
x=4
sub
8+y=15
adding -8
y=7
so x=4,y=7

2x+y=15
y=-2x+15

5x-6y=-22
5x-6(-2x+15)=-22
5x+12x-90=-22
17x-90=-22
17x=-68
x=-4

2(-4)+y=15
-8+y=15
y=23
