Yep. I had a friend that was just like that and I did everything in my power to help her but finally faced the fact that I could do no more. I was becoming a depressed person because of it. I had to face the fact that I could not help her because she didn't want to be helped. Best to stay away from people like that.

There are many people around who appear to have a poisonous negative aura about them and as such drain others of their gratitude and joyfulness. This really affects how a person reacts to others also and their partners can always tell when if they have been in contact with one of these individuals by the negative energy that they are putting out after being with these people. When possible try and avoid these people but if you cannot then take some time to yourself and try to remove this negativity from around you before spreading it like a wildfire.

Yes. My sister-in-law is like that. She is always full of drama, and the stress she brings with her everytime she comes around or calls, is sometimes too much for me to take. My husband and I have tried many times to help her, but it never worked. The only thing I do now is listen calmly to her tirades. I no longer offer any advice (even when she asks for it), or any help. She has a big heart, and I love her, but she just sucks the life out of us when she's around. She's also got two small kids who we love alot, and if it wasn't for them, I don't think I would go out of my way to keep in touch with her. She's also got an idiot for a husband, but that's another story.

I know a number of people just as you describe. Within minutes of speaking to them I can feel my life force being drained from me and sucked into the void of their absolute negativity. I refer to these people as soul suckers and have not yet found a cure for them. They are absolutely exhausting and I feel somehow defiled. There is no escape, they are everywhere. Creepy!!

I have a number of friends who do that. What I do when they start soul-sucking is I say, "Hey, I'm trying to be positive here!" I say it with a smile on my face and a laugh in my voice. As soon as I say that, the whole atmosphere changes. The complaining stops and we start talking about good things.

Yup - a friend of mine used to call the psychic vampires as they suck all the energy and life from you.
There are a few about - and usually it is hard to work out *quite* how they manage to be so ghastly to be with.
