My department is very small and have had a rough year, anyone have any ideas for celebrating the holidays, gift exchange, anything like that? I leave it to the wise Yahoo Answer folks.

If you have money in your budget go out and eat someplace nice together and have small individual gift for everyone.

If there is no money in the budget have a pot luck lunch, close down the department for 2 hours and everyone can bring a covered dish and share your meal. Play music, maybe even have some holiday themed games like wordfinds or crossword puzzels and give $2.00 scratch offs as prizes.

draw names for a gift exchange or a white elephant gift exchange, pitch in lunch, decorated cup cakes with plastic toppers and everyone keeps the topper they get. have someone bring a throw a way camera or two and take pictures of everyone and give each one a photo as a memory. games and happy stories. have fun as the memories you make will remain long after the Christmas season is done. perhaps someone can portray Santa to give the gifts if not the whole costume then a red and white Santa hat.
