Hey, my pen is huge, which I am sure is far from the truth; but I guess the my pen is so small it cannot be measured with a micrometer t-shirts don't impress the ladies quite as much you as your fallacy (pun intended). I guess you are just a typical British idiot. You cannot even conceal your arrogance and contempt. Sure, American are so dumb; and where have all of the technological innovations occurred for the past 30 years? In the UK? I don't think so; in the Bay Area and Boston. And where is the company located that you are using to write your libelous tripe? Could it be, yes, Santa Clara, California! In what country is California located? I will give the mouth breathers in the UK a clue. It borders the Pacific Ocean. Anyone? No, not Canada, sorry. No, not Chile, nice try though. Are you serious? Kenya, that does not even border the Pacific Ocean! Oh, I am sorry, the correct answer is the United States. Remember your station and try to come to terms with your pathetic life.

Now to answer the question. Yes, this has been a huge problem; but it will change soon. During the Cold War, the United State language institutes and colleges geared up to teach students Russian, since at the time the Soviet Union was the main enemy. Many high schools even added Russian to their foreign language curricula. Since 9/11 these government language institutes and colleges have switched gears to teach Arabic. It will take time for this increase to trickle down to the various intelligence agencies, but I am sure in the near future even high schools will offer Arabic classes.

Edit:

Hey, my remark was not directed at you kissmybum, it was directed at my pen is so small.

Well, mister minuscule pen, I guess you cannot write English, since you stated "Arabic is way too complicated for them. " The pronoun them is used to distinguish yourself from a group of people. So basically, your statement reads: we cannot teach them, which would mean you are not part of the collective group of Americans.

You are right it is difficult to understand English, when the written statement is ambiguous. I think it's time for you to break out your English primer. So, yes, it is true, you have proved your point; but only about yourself. Please leave the rest of us out of it.

They don't need to know the language if they kill all the people who speak it.
Of course it is a problem. Probably doesnt help that the people who speak Arabic wouldnt make it past their screeing process.
It is not an easy language to learn either. Plus it is not just Arabic that they speak in the middle east. They would need to learn Urdu, Farsi, Arabic and a thousand other dialects to be fully fluent. I definately do see the point you are making though.

How do you know that only a few are fluent in Arabic? How many Mossad agents are fluent in Arabic? how many CIA members are fluent in Farsi? Is it more important to be fluent in Farsi than Arabic? You maybe need to get your numbers in cement before casting stones. How many linguists does the NSA employ? vs the CIA vs homeland security vs MI5? lots of questions to thinks about? the UK has over 20% Arabic speaking population. Detroit is very high as well

How do we really know how many are fluent in Arabic. I have heard that the CIA people sometimes lie!

Yes. It is a major problem. It is hard to find people fluent in Arabic who aren't security risks. Why they haven't started a crash program to have agents learn Arabic is a mystery to me.

Are you kidding me? We can't even get Americans to speak English properly. We can't even learn the language of our closest neighbors(da Mexicans).

Arabic is way too complicated for them.

and

Yes it is a problem.
