I'm in my second year as Computer Scientist and am bored with my course. It involves sitting through lectures that don't interest me any more, they're too nitty-gritty. Also its not really that useful to what I want to become, a property developer. Would you recommend I start a job as an Estate Agent and eventually buy and develop small properties working my way up to larger ones, continue with my course at uni and do that afterwards or something completely different?

Also does anyone have any advice about the best way to understand property? Is a Property Negotiator the best job to take on that would help me learn how to develop properties further down the line?

Your help as soon as possible would be much appreciated as I will probably decide on whether to drop my course within a weeks time.

Cheers,
Adam.

Adam,
Try to get a job working with someone that does that now. Get to see what it really is and find out what are YOUR possibilities of succeeding at that type of business.

I hope your living expenses are still real low.

Good luck finding a career that you will enjoy.

Never heard of a Property Negotiator!
R/E Speculator - buys land or homes on the cheap and sells for a profit - homes generally need fixing up.
R/E Developer - turns land into developments (communities).
R/E Agents/Brokers generally sell commercial/residential land, homes, buildings etc. with some opportunities to speculate.
Take a part/full time job with a property management company, you will quickly learn the ins and outs of property and all associated headaches and rewards.
Unless your are going to do most of the work yourself you will have to establish a network of builders, handymen, journeymen, contractors, real estate agents, finance sources, mortgage companies etc to assist you in achieving your goals on the purchase, rehabilitation/building and finally the marketing aspects of the industry. Good luck!
