After only starting (week ago) to work in a bank's call centre, I'd be training for the first 6 weeks. In the mean time, I'll be looking for other jobs, as well, if it offers better job description & salary itself.
I wonder if I get anything better, would it be allowed to leave the bank's job (regardless of 4 weeks notice required to them) & kick-off with the new & better job offered elsewhere ???
If I don't give the notice, would it REALLY matter ???

Yes it would. You would have broke your contract. There may be consequences, I don't know, not knowing your contract. But if you signed an agreement that stated that you would give 4-weeks notice, I'd read your copy again. Better to talk to the person in charge, tell him you have a much better offer/wage and want to give only 1-weeks notice. At least do that. If not, you do leave a very bad trail on your Resume, employers find out, it goes against you, NOT GOOD. Take my advice and follow it. Good!

peaches has it right.... she should have the points.......
but in addition, if you get offered a new job, the new place will wait the 4 weeks, its normal and they all expect it, it'll be took into consideration with your start date...
also remember, new employers ALWAYS want to know who your last employer was and why you left (reference or not...) and if they find you left without notice, even for them, they will wonder if your going to do the same to them if something better turns up.
again, like peaches said, you'll be breaking your contract.... and if you do, you can be officially sacked, you wont get the chance to officially leave.... that never looks good....
do the right thing... whats 4 weeks for a better life?

the only thing that the bank could do is with hold any holiday money due to you, and give you a bad reference in the future, but be careful as they may also try to with hold back wages due to you,but if you are offered a better job take it and then tell your boss at the bank that you have been offered another job , he may be really understanding about it

i gave my employers 3 days. i hateed it there and they didn't realy like me too much. rule kinda is is that you work there for less than 3 months then you can just walk out. but it is curtious to give a 2 weeks notice when you have worked there more than 3 months. if you want to use this job as a reference then give at least a week or so notice

You wouldn't be able to ask them for a reference, but then again if you only worked a few weeks it looks bad anyway. almost better to miss them off completely, or mention it as a gap job.
Presumably while you are training they could also decide not to employ you and would give you shorter notice than a regular employee.
The exception would be if they are having to pay for you to be trained, and then things really get sticky.

it best to give a two weeks notice and tell the better job you need to give a two weeks notice that way they know you will do them the same way.

If you don't ever use them as a reference on a resume, then no. You don't have to use them since it's only been a week and your training hasn't started yet.

If the money is on your warm little hand take it an run. regardless of if this is coming in installments you would be nicely cautioned to stay there and defend your investment till it has all been paid to you.
